Tournament
Arranged for the twenty-fifth time, Gothenburg Open is a relaxed and friendly Go tournament, held in the second largest city of Sweden. A five-round standard MacMahon tournament, open to all players. Japanese Rules. Thinking time is one hour each and byo-yomi is 3×30 seconds. It is allowed, although not recommended, to skip a round in the tournament if this is communicated in advance. The EGF rules otherwise apply.
Prizes
Prizes depended on the number of participants and were as follows: First place: 1500 SEK, 2nd place 1000 SEK, 3rd place 500 SEK. Players with four victories or more were awarded 200 SEK to buy something from Mats (www.mohsart.se) who was at the tournament selling go stuff.

Location
The venue for the tournament is Gibraltargatan 78 in Johanneberg, next to Fysiken and close to Chalmers University of Technology.

Transports
From Gothenburg to the Venue
To get there from the Central Train Station, take tram number 2 to Korsvägen. From Korsvägen, take bus number 42 to Pilbågsgatan (marked black on the map), or take bus 42 or 52 to Mossen, which is the stop just outside the tournament building (the flag on the map). You can also use the västtrafik website to find your way. Enter ”Gibraltargatan 78” as your destination.
To Gothenburg
There are ferries from Kiel and Fredrikshavn. From Oslo you can go by bus, and of course, Göteborg is reachable by train or air.
Accommodation
There is room for a limited number of people with sleeping bags in a dorm next to the venue. Also, a limited number of people can be privately accomodated. (For the natives who offer private accommodation, a 50 SEK discount will be given for each person accommodated.) For suitable Hotels in the area, see Hotels. The closest hotel is Hotel Ljungbacken across the street from the venue. The Panorama Hotel is within 10 minutes walk from the venue. For Youth Hostels in a wider area, see YouthHostels. Eklanda Bed & Breakfast is within 15 minutes walk from the venue.
Entry Fee
The entry fee is 200 SEK / 20 EUR for players 14k and stronger, and 100 SEK / 10 EUR for players 15k and weaker. Tea and coffee is included in the fee. Please pay in SEK if possible.
