Tällberg

Tällberg is a small traditional village, with just 200 permanent residents, but very beautifully situated on the hill slope towards the shore of lake Siljan, 12 km north of Leksand. The beauty of the village and its surroundings was much appreciated already by 19th century artists and national romantics. When the railway was extended to Tällberg in 1914 tourists as well discovered the charms of the site and over the years 8 hotels with more than 1000 beds have been established in this tiny village, remarkably without destroying the small scale character.

Some of the hotels have excellent standard, both in rooms, restaurants and surroundings, and they all have a stupendous view. Since 2005 an annual international forum on global issues is organised in Tällberg and very many prominent world leaders, scientists etc. have visited over the years ( http://www.tallbergfoundation.org/ ). Besides the hotels there is an interesting hostel in very ancient buildings, and a camping by the lake. Tällberg may be a very nice place to stay also for the EGC participants.

There is public transport between Leksand and Tällberg by train and bus, however there is some distance from the train station in Tällberg to the hotels, as well as from Leksand train station to the EGC to keep in mind, and the last public bus from Leksand to Tällberg is already at about 6 p.m. If many EGC participants want to stay in Tällberg we will arrange some additional transport.
